Selçuk Yaşar Ödülü | 3rd SY Award
Selçuk Yaşar’ın Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin temelini oluşturan gençliğe ve çağdaşlık ülküsüne adayarak gerçekleştirdiği hedefi Yaşar Üniversitesi, Selçuk Yaşar Ödülü ile kurucusunun vizyon mirasını Türkiye’nin dört bir yanına taşıyor. Bu yıl ilk kez verilecek Selçuk Yaşar Ödülü, yeniliği, toplumsal faydayı ve geleceğin Türkiye’sini hedefleyen cesur insanların çalışmalarını kutlamayı, başarılarını tüm Türkiye’ye duyurmayı ve Türkiye’den dünyaya açılan yeni hayallere güç vermeyi hedefliyor.

AHMET FAHRİ YİĞİTBAŞI

President

After studying Mechanical Engineering at Aachen Technical University in Germany and completing his master’s degree in Fuel Engineering department, he started his career at Union Kraftstoff in 1987. He acted as the Deputy CEO, and then as the CEO of Botaş Packaging Industries Inc. between 1990 and 1996. He was the Vice President and President at Yaşar Holding Paints and Chemical Industries Group between 1996-2015.

He has been serving as the President of Yaşar University Board of Trustees since 2010 and Executive Board Member of Dyo Paints Incorporation and as the Vice-President of the Executive Board Member of Desa Energy Inc. since 2015. He worked as a founding Board Member at the Turkish Association of Paint Industry, and as the Chairman of the Board of Directors between 2007-2009 and 2017-2019.

Ahmet Fahri Yiğitbaşı is also a member of Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) and Aegean Industry and Business Association (ESİAD).

AYŞEGÜL İLDENİZ

Born in 1969, Ayşegül İldeniz is a pioneer in innovation, technology transformation and future vision in Silicon Valley and İstanbul, Turkey. İldeniz holds a degree in Business Administration from Bosphorus University and a Masters in Electronic Communications Arts from San Francisco State University, California. During her career at Intel Corporation, she ran Intel’s Middle East, Turkey and Africa region and served on Intel’s Board of Directors in Europe and as the Vice President for New Devices Group at the Intel Headquarter in Silicon Valley. She also served as COO at Silver Spring Networks between 2016-2018.
In 2015, she was listed among the top 100 creative persons in business by Fast Company magazine, one of the most prestigious publications in the US. İldeniz was also awarded as the third most influential Turkish-American woman in the US by Turks of America (TOA) magazine. In Turkey, she was selected IT Woman of the Year in 2004 and Woman Executive of the Year in 2006 by Dünya newspaper. She currently serves on the boards of Eczacıbaşı Holding and Zorlu Holding companies: Vestel Electronics, Vestel White Goods and Zorlu Enerji.

CENGİZ ULTAV

Cengiz Ultav was born in 1950. Having graduated from Ankara Science High School in 1968, Ultav earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in electrical and electronics engineering from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1972 and 1975, respectively. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors at the Technology Development Foundation of Turkey and as Member of the Board of Directors at Vestel Ventures.
After his technical and administrative jobs at Bimsa and Info companies in Turkey and at Dornier System GmbH abroad, Ultav served as Vice President at NCR and President of the Sun Microsystems. Meanwhile he advised various holdings including Koç, Sabancı and Eczacıbaşı in Turkey. Ultav also served as a Member of the Executive Board for Technology within Vestel Electronics.
Ultav advised on founding of the United Nations Development Programme in Vietnam. He is a founding member of the Turkish Informatics Foundation and the UNIX Users Association, as well as a certified advisor in Microsoft Solution Development.

PROF. ÖZNUR ÖZKASAP

Prof. Öznur Özkasap is a professor of computer engineering at Koç University. Her research interests include distributed systems, energy efficiency, cloud storage and computing, mobile and vehicular ad hoc networks, scalable reliable multicast protocols, security in distributed systems, and computer networks.
Having been awarded the TÜBİTAK-NATO Scholarship, Özkasap did her doctoral studies at Cornell University. She subsequently completed her doctoral studies in 2000 at Ege University. Prof. Özkasap currently serves as an Area Editor of the Future Generation Computer Systems journal, Elsevier Science, and National Representative of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM-W Europe).
She is a recipient of the Turk Telekom Collaborative Research Awards in 2012 and the Career Award of TUBITAK (the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) in 2004.

PROF. SELİM BALCISOY

Prof. Selim Balcısoy is a professor at Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Balcısoy earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich in 1996. Subsequently in 2001, he completed his doctoral studies at EPFL Lausanne in computer sciences on ‘Analyzing and Developing Techniques for the Interaction between Real and Virtual Worlds’.
Balcısoy worked as senior research engineer for mobile graphics at Nokia Research Center, US between 2001 and 2004. His areas of research include data science, data analytics, visual analytics, augmented reality, virtual reality, cultural heritage, and computer graphics.
Balcısoy also holds over sixty publications published in international refereed journals and conferences, as well as a patent granted by the US patent office.
