Selçuk Yaşar’ın Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin temelini oluşturan gençliğe ve çağdaşlık ülküsüne adayarak gerçekleştirdiği hedefi Yaşar Üniversitesi, Selçuk Yaşar Ödülü ile kurucusunun vizyon mirasını Türkiye’nin dört bir yanına taşıyor. Bu yıl ilk kez verilecek Selçuk Yaşar Ödülü, yeniliği, toplumsal faydayı ve geleceğin Türkiye’sini hedefleyen cesur insanların çalışmalarını kutlamayı, başarılarını tüm Türkiye’ye duyurmayı ve Türkiye’den dünyaya açılan yeni hayallere güç vermeyi hedefliyor.

Selçuk Yaşar Award conferred for the fourth time!

Prof. Mihri Özkan wins Selçuk Yaşar Award!

 

Prof. (PhD) Mihri Özkan, Member of the Faculty at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at California University Riverside Campus received Selçuk Yaşar Award this year. Prof. Mihri Özkan, who works on electric car technology with zero carbon emission, lithium-ion battery and super capacitor technologies, clean energy technologies and sustainable production technology, is also rightly proud of being the first woman scholar to get the “Inventor Award” in the 112-year-old history of the University of California.

 

Selçuk Yaşar Award, which was initiated by Yaşar University in cooperation with Selçuk Yaşar Sports and Education Foundation in order to celebrate the efforts of brave people who aim for innovation, social benefit and the Turkey of the future, and to announce their success to the whole country, was conferred for the fourth time with a ceremony held at Çeşme Altın Yunus Hotel.

 

The theme of Selçuk Yaşar Award was determined as “Climate Change” this year in order to leave a better world to future generations. Prof. Ord. Niyazi Serdar Sarıçiftçi, Prof. Arif Hepbaşlı, Prof. Begüm Özkaynak and Prof. Yurdanur Ünal were assigned in the selection committee designated specifically for this theme.

 

Prof. Mihri Özkan, a faculty member at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at California University Riverside Campus who works on electric car technology with zero carbon emission, lithium-ion battery and super capacitor technologies, clean energy technologies and sustainable production technology, has been conferred Selçuk Yaşar Award this year. The award was presented to Prof. Özkan, who has more than 340 publications, 1 book, 47 accepted patents and 10 active patent applications, by Mr. Ahmet Yiğitbaşı, the Chair of Yaşar University Board of Trustees; Ms. İdil Yiğitbaşı, the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Yaşar Holding and the President of Selçuk Yaşar Sports and Education Foundation; and Prof. Cemali Dinçer, the Rector of Yaşar University.
